This just in! We have been trying to make this year’s tour more of a snap for folks that want to participate but may not have access to a good list of places to stay (nearby our routes & farms).
So, for those of you that are interested, we’ve supplied a list of possible lodging and accommodations (listed in no particular order):
The Mountain Village Farm Bed & Breakfast (link)
A wonderfully scenic spot with ample space and options for relaxation and fueling up. Owner Lisa Standish has signed on as a farm stop but also welcomes tour participants and their families. There is a one-way tour that will allow cyclists to begin in Farmington and end at the door of the Mountain Village Farm Bed & Breakfast.
Island Farm in Avon, owned by Jim & Ellen James (link)
The James family has allowed cyclists to stay on the weekend of October 1, 2011 for free onsite camping. Camping is, however, limited and on a first-come, first-serve basis. Thanks to Jim and Ellen for their help!
(pictures to come soon)
Located along the 41 and 57 mile routes, Island Farm is a beautiful spot. Island Farm sits at a picturesque location beside the Sandy River, on the River Road in Avon. It is run by a hardworking and friendly family, the Jameses. Island Farm has wonderful veggies, herbs, squashes and also has a selection of grass-fed beef.
